Our Staff

Stable Manager & Instructor: Christi-Lyn Davis

Despite her young age Christi has a wealth of horse related experience. She has studied for her SANEF Modules one through five and has done courses in breeding and stud management as well as first aid for horses and humans respectively.

Her first experience in the saddle was at 3 years old and she has not stopped riding since. Christi not only manages Sunny Park but also manages her own yard of 6 horses. She balances her time between managing and teaching at Sunny Park with producing three of her young horses and competing on her other three: Connemara Wigwam, Sunman and Big Screen Hero. Currently, Christi is aiming to get into the open heights and achieve her life-long goal of competing in the Avis South African Derby.

Christi is extremely enthusiastic about her teaching and says passing on knowledge and seeing improvement in her students is extremely rewarding. She also points out that horse riding is by no means an individual sport, the trust between horse and rider is extremely important and as an instructor she finds great joy in helping pupils forge that bond with their mount. Teamwork extends to Sunny Park’s management where, under the guidance of Nicola, Christi says the staff are always trying their best and have a positive attitude – because at Sunny Park it feels like everyone is a family and the stables their home.

Our grooms

Any stable yard will testify that the fundamental key behind running a successful barn is your grooms. Sunny Park brags some of the most knowledgeable and talented grooms in the business.

Our grooms are trained in all aspects of basic stable management as well as equine first aid. Three of the Sunny Park grooms – Isaac, Warrick and Amos – also took it upon themselves to learn to ride and under the tuition of Nicola Sime have excelled in a short space of time. All three riders compete at graded shows and are steadily progressing up the grades. Their achievements can be found on the News & Events page.
