Training show has been cancelled

[dropcap style=”font-size: 70px; color: #052b51; font-family: ‘Droid Serif’, Arial, sans-serif;”] U [/dropcap]nfortunately we’ve had to cancel our training show scheduled for the 9th of March. The Johannesburg weather has not come to the party. There has been bucket loads of rain from Sunday and even it if lets up over the next few days the grounds will still be very soggy.

Along with soggy going, the horses have also had to be kept in their stables and the paddocks are so wet and muddy. This means fresh and excitable horses. Many of those competing at the show would be novice riders and we wouldn’t want to risk their safety and the safety of other competitors by asking them to handle fresh horses in a nervous and stressful environment.

While our arenas have fantastic drainage we’d like to caution all our riders to take extra special care should you decide to ride in this weather. To and from the arena is very slippery. Keep in mind that this is what many horse riders refer to as “tendon weather” because often a horse can slip or take strain squishing through the mud. Be careful!
