Warrick, Isaac and Amos at the 2012 Avis SA Derby

[dropcap style=”font-size: 70px; color: #052b51; font-family: ‘Droid Serif’, Arial, sans-serif;”] W [/dropcap]arrick, Isaac & Amos competed at the Avis SA Derby earlier this month and waved the Sunny Park banner high!

The three gents have only ever competed in show jumping classes, so you can imagine their surprise when they found out a few days before the derby that they would be competing in a Showing class!

The horses were beautifully plaited and turned out and our grooms really looked the part with their smart new jackets, shirts and ties.

All three excelled in the jumping section of their “free test”. They were expected to jump some hay bales with a turn back over the blue Gauteng Horse Society Wall. While some of the more seasoned showing horses had a good look at the funnies, the three Sunny Park riders and their mounts cantered over the fences happily.

Warrick came third, Isaac fourth and Amos placed fifth. They were handed their awards by open show jumper Anthea Erasmus in a prize giving ceremony held in the main derby arena.

We are extremely proud of these results. Warrick, Isaac and Amos ride their horses in the morning before they start work. They are saddled up and riding before 7am each day! Brian has also started to learn to ride and has really learnt a large amount in a very short space of time.
